Making of my Musical Life.........

Making of my Musical Life.........

I was 5 years old when I used to sit with my Grandma along with her harmonium and she used to teach me bhajans. I used to accompany Dad for his shows across Mumbai, where he used to perform as voice of "Mukesh" in many performing groups in mumbai. Untill one day Dad asked me at a show, that whether I would like to sing something on the stage? I was small but I was confident, and Dad had trained me at home, I went on stage, got a scale from the Synth Player, and just sung "Shoor amhi sardar" which was applauded by the Public who was present there. This is how my journey in music started.

As I was getting older, Mom & Dad tried to make sure that I am learning music, and also I am participating in various competetions in school and outside, whenever Dad got a chance, he took me to his shows. This made sure that I am constantly gaining knowledge in music, and my confidence was increasing, shyness was going out, which was a good thing at that age of 7-8. Thankful to my parents for making me confident from that age.

After we moved from Mulund to Kalyan, I met my music teacher, my guru Shri. Mandar Soman Sir. He made sure that I am learning the light music to the core, like expressions, sur, taal, pronounciations, perfomance tips everything which he gave me, is helpful for life. One more important thing he did with me was introduced me in lot of his shows, which made me more knowledgable and expressive in terms of light music, I admire Mandar sir a lot, as he really worked hard on my capabilities and cultivated my voice quality.

I remember, Dad telling Mandar Sir, to take care of my voice after him. And Dad passed away in 1996, he only had one wish for me, that I should learn music...as he could not learn it in his life. I kept that in mind and kept learning Classical as well as Light music to improve my singing abilities.

On the verge of my Engineering Finals, I had to leave my musical activities a bit behind and study, which i did and successfully passed out from Mumbai university with a computer Engineering degree. I was happy, parellely I was performing in various TV shows as well as programmes around Mumbai.

Same time I participated in the much awaited show, SaReGaMaPa on zee, and it helped me a lot learning things performance wise.
It was a great experience. Did just one episode, but it gave me so much that I cant stop thanking that platform. Blessings of SRGMP are always with me.

Life after that took a swing, and I landed in Dubai for Job. It was difficult to persue Music here, but kept trying for my chances.
Be it Antakshari in Middle east, or Radio Star competetion on Radio 4. Last but not least again participation in Middle East SaReGaMaPa was a blessing in desguise, I reached up to the finals of it and were selected 3rd. Again it made me learn a lot about performing.

Things were happening smoothly, and then I had the chance of my life to perform with Vaishali Samant in Dubai. That truly was a great moment. And by god's grace performance got clicked and now things are going towards the right direction.

How strange life is, some days back I was just fighting to keep my dreams alive, and now my dreams are calling me to their city to meet them. I trust in my God, and feel that my meeting with my good old dreams will be near.......Please pray for me !!!!!!!!
